Abstract

This study examines the factors influencing the adoption of the improved Tenera variety and the agricultural practices promoted in the Tshela region, DRC. Based on a survey of 260 oil palm farmers and a Logit analysis, the results showed that more than half of the producers have adopted the Tenera variety, however the associated management practices remain poorly implemented. Adoption is significantly influenced by variables such as education level, cultivated land area, age, and access to training. Conversely, factors such as cooperative membership or land ownership do not play a determining role. These findings suggest that agricultural extension systems should be tailored to farmers' profiles and grounded in a participatory and differentiated approach. The study advocates for more inclusive agricultural policies that integrate the cognitive, social, and institutional dimensions of innovation adoption.
